Table 3

CO2 gas hydrates have number densities for water (nwh) and gas (nM) molecules at T = 273.1 K with water density in the structure nwh = 2.65 × 10−2−3.

Ng nM (10−4−3) ρO (g cm−3)
0 (empty = LO) 0 0.80
1 5.78 0.84
2 11.55 0.88
3 17.33 0.92
4 23.10 0.96
5 28.88 1.01
6 34.65 1.05
7 40.43 1.09
8 (full = HO) 46.20 1.13

8 (full = HO, CH4) 46.20 0.92
8 (full = HO, CO) 46.20 1.01

Notes. The values given are forNg, which is the number of gas molecules per 46 water molecules in the gas hydrate structure. We provide the different gas hydrate mass densities (ρO) for the evaluation of effective densities and buoyancies in water. For instance, empty, low occupancy (LO), and fully occupied, high occupancy (HO) gas hydrates have a density of 0.80 g cm−3 and 1.13 g cm−3, respectively. In addition, the corresponding data are given for fully occupied CH4 and CO gas hydrates.
