Solar granulation: a comparison between images taken at different viewing angles shows that fine-scale structure can be resolved with much higher fidelity at more inclined angles. For mapping the Sun’s polar regions beyond what can be achieved using the Sun’s B0 angle (Tsuneta et al. 2008b), a viewpoint outside the ecliptic plane is required (from Müller & Marsden 2013).
