NGC 4217 diffuse X-ray emission: a): Chandra diffuse X-ray intensity image in the 0.3−1.5 keV band. The contours are at 1.4, 1.6, 2.0, 2.6 and 3.4 × 10⁻³ counts s⁻¹ arcmin⁻² (or about 3, 4, 6, 9, and 13σ above the local background). The image is adaptively smoothed after detected point-like sources are excised. b) and c): the contours from a) are overlaid on the C-configuration C-band radio intensity image (Fig. 2, beam size 5.8″ × 5.9″) and the polarized intensity image (Fig. 14, beam size 18″).
