Probability distributions for the Compton-thick AGN fraction obtained from the XMM-CDFS (in blue) using the beta distribution prior (in red) which approximates the distribution of previous measurements for nearby AGN using hard X-ray instruments and Chandra CDFS measurements (references are given in text). The best estimate is found at 0.04 with the 95% credible interval of (0.024–0.078).
