Sketch of the equilibrium configuration. The equilibrium state consists of a surface separating two regions, each with different density. The magnetic field is uniform throughout both regions and is inclined within the (x, z)-plane at an angle, θ, with respect to the x-direction. The configuration is invariant in the x- and y-directions. Perturbations are described by the wave vector, k, in the (x, y) plane.
