Illustration of the difference between the trajectories of observed objects (left) and KIs (right). The observed objects tend to have circular orbits which lie in the orbital plane of Earth around the Sun, whereas the KIs exhibit a much broader distribution in eccentricity and inclination. These characteristics, however, are not mutually exclusive and could be one the root causes of HOI’s imperfect classification.
