Photoelectron production rate in the coma at the solar terminator (χ = π∕2) in dimensionless units for different outgassing rates as a function of the cometocentric distance in cometary radii. The production decreases monotonically with respect to r for Q <2Qc. For Q > 2Qc, the production increases up to the cometocentric distance and decreases beyond. The solid black line corresponds to the upper bound of the photoelectron production rate for a given cometocentric distance. The gray part is the theoretical region that cannot be reached by any Q. The expanding velocity is set to Un = 600 m⋅s−1.
