Average surface brightness profile of P/2016 G1 compared to the average profile for field stars as seen in the data obtained with the Pan-STARRS1 telescope on 2016 March 7. The profiles for the field stars have been normalised to the peak brightness for P/2016 G1. Although the images of the comet appear stellar in the images, its profiles indicate that the object isslightly –but significantly– extended.
