We assume the diffuse gas in the disk can be driven outwards by the AGN to give the overall ejection rate of gas Ṁwind,agn. The accretion onto the SMBH Ṁacc is itself divided in two parts: a fraction (1−fME)Ṁacc of the infalling gas goes to increasing the mass of the SMBH, while the remaining gas Qagn = fMEṀacc is converted into energy (see Sect. 5.3 for details). The radiative and mechanical energy of the AGN is then distributed in various ways as illustrated in Fig. 9.
