Notes. The PM vectors at the HIPPARCOS (μH) and GDR2 (μG2) epochs are compared to the mean PM from the Hip2 and GDR2 positions (μHG). The differences are expressed in S/N ΔH and ΔG2. Δ is set to ⋆ for a strong detection (ΔG2>5), • for 3 <  ΔG2 <  5 and ° for 2 <  ΔG2 <  3. ϵi is the astrometric excess noise and 𝜚 the renormalized unit weight error (Sect. 3.8). The stars are listed in order of decreasing parallax, and the names of the stars discussed in Sect. 5 are emphasized using bold characters. The full table is available from the CDS.
