Comparison of two intensity profiles with different values of skewness and kurtosis. The intensity profile for the Orion Bar position is positive skewed with a tail to the right, while the intensity profile of the OMC4 ridge position is flat in the top resulting in a platykurtic or negative kurtosis distribution. FilChaP determines the skewness and kurtosis of the filament intensity profiles.
