Possible shapes of cometary nuclei as a result of anisotropic mass loss are shown for a variety of configurations. The outcome is determined by the initial obliquity of the nucleus before substantial mass loss sets in (α1) and final obliquity after destabilization of the original spin state (α2). The corresponding spin axes are red and green, respectively. The nuclei in this graph are orientated according to their final obliquity with respect to the orbital angular momentum (vertical direction).
