Multiprocessing scheme of PynPoint. The workflow consists of two processes for read and write operations and a pool of worker processes to run the actual algorithm in parallel. In this manner, not only is the computation time reduced but the time required for reading and writing of data can also be hidden during the computations. See main text for details on this so-called master-worker pattern.
