Horizontal cuts of the temperature (left panel) and the vertical component of magnetic field (right panel) in the domain, taken at a height of ∼300 km above the continuum formation height. Small-scale temperature enhancements up to 7700 K indicate current sheets in the centres of magnetic reconnection regions. These regions can be clearly seen in the right panel, where magnetic fields of opposite polarities merge. The reconnection region example, shown in Fig. 3, is located at (2,3) Mm.
