Rms sensitivity for our 1.6 GHz EVN observations after primary beam correction. These data were optimally weighted for sensitivity (AIPS task IMAGR: UVWTFN=“NA”). The central rms is approximately ∼9 μJy beam−1. The red dashed circles correspond to the HPBW of the Effelsberg telescope at 1.6 GHz (∼7′̣5) at the pointing centres specified in Table 1, and coloured markers correspond to the sub-fields. Contours start at 15 μJy beam−1 in increments of 5 μJy beam−1 in order to illustrate the rapid sensitivity losses outside the primary beams of the large telescopes.
