Difference between the SDSS DR5 and DR9 absolute -band magnitude distributions of the NIBLES sample galaxies. The DR9 magnitudes were updated using the flux-based association between the spectroscopic target and the photometric object rather than the position-only based match in DR5. Consequently, there are fewer low-luminosity sources than originally anticipated, as many of their DR5 magnitudes had been (severely) underestimated.
