Notes. The models are described in Sect. 2.3. Different models are compared based on the difference of the likelihood logarithm (), and the difference in number of degrees of freedom (d.o.f.) associated with Vela X, taking model A as reference. The detection significance of a component is given by , where and are the maximum likelihood values of the model including or not including the component, respectively. (a) 10−5 MeV cm−2 s−1, integrated for energies between 10 GeV and 2 TeV.
