η parameter as function of orbital distance from the planet for α = 0.001, Hr = 0.05 and different planetary masses in 2D discs. The location of the planet is always at r = 1. A negative η parameter indicates the pressure bump. Here a mass of about ≈10 Earth masses is needed to generate the pressure bump, which is about a factor of 1.5–2 lower than in the 3D case.
