Dashed lines are inversion kernels for two wavenumbers in the continuum. CH₄ rotational bands (from 70 cm^-1 to 170 cm^-1) probe the stratospheric temperature between 10 mbar and 20 mbar. Wavenumbers in the continuum probe the temperature around the tropopause from 80 mbar to 200 mbar.
