Geometry of the observations. Panels a)–c) show the viewing directions, that is, the centres of the fields of view, for the RPC-ICA instrument projected onto the plane containing the comet to spacecraft direction and the CSEQ x direction for times 08:00, 16:24, and 20:46 in panels a)c), respectively. The nucleus of the comet is located at the origin of the coordinate system. For the same times, panels d)–f) show the orientation of the spacecraft and the ROSINA COPS instrument with respect to the gas flow from the nucleus, which is shown by the black arrows.
