Lyman-α rest-frame equivalent widths as a function of spectroscopic redshift for galaxies in the CANDELS-COSMOS and CANDELS-ECDFS areas of the VUDS-DR1. Negative EW values indicate Lyα in emission. Galaxies in the VUDS-DR1 sample show predominantly Lyα in absorption up to z ~ 3.5, and Lyα in emission at z> 3.5 (see Cassata et al. 2015, for the full VUDS sample).
