Representative line profiles of Ti-bearing species in Mira. Ti i: an optical spectrum of Ti i λ5173 is shown with dotted black line. It is an average of two spectra acquired for phases 0.17 and 0.24 and represents the phase of ALMA observations (ϕ = 0.21). To correct the average profile for the photospheric line of Ti i, a synthetic spectrum based on MARCS model atmospheres was subtracted. The subtraction is not perfect and the profile of circumstellar Ti i is distorted by photospheric features of TiO. TiO: our best ALMA observations of the pure rotational line of TiO is shown as a red histogram. TiO2: two profiles are shown for TiO2; one is a median of six normalized transitions and represents lines of different excitation potentials (blue dashed histogram); the other shows a profile of the 95,5–84,4 transition (gray dotted histogram).
