Table 2

Modelling assumptions.

Nr. Assumption Used Notes

1 Steady state
2 Optically thin dust cloud (a)
3 Single initial grain size
4 Spherical dust grains
5 Constant optical efficiency factors
6 Long dust survival time (b)
7 Constant dust sublimation rate
8 Dust sublimation as in vacuum
9 Circular planet orbit
10 Small planet
11 Radiation controlled dust temperatures
12 Radiation pressure dominated dynamics

Notes. An overview of the modelling assumptions introduced in Paper I. The check marks indicate whether these assumptions are still used in the present work.

(a)

This assumption is investigated in more detail in Sect. 4.2.

(b)

In Paper I, the dust survival time was assumed to be long (compared to the orbital period of the dust grains). Here, we assume instead that it is short (not much longer than one orbital period of the planet; see Sect. 2.3.2 for further details).
