Schematic of the scattered light mapping method. A power law shaped disk surface is projected onto an image plane which has an inclination, i, and is located along the negative y-axis. The height of the radial τ = 1 surface, hτ = 1(rmid), at a midplane radius, rmid, is given by Eq. (2). The figure shows a disk projection with i = 42°, PA = 90°, h0 = 0.14, χ = 1.17, and a disk inner radius of 15 au at a distance of 100 pc.
