PL distribution in the G-band of the SEP RR Lyrae stars published in Gaia DR1. Blue and red open circles indicate RRc and RRab pulsators, respectively. The upper panel shows the total sample of 2595 RR Lyrae stars. In the lower panel marked in blue and red are the new RR Lyrae stars discovered by Gaia (343 in total); the grey filled circles are the known RR Lyrae stars. RR Lyrae stars brighter than 18−18.5 mag likely belong to the MW halo in front of the LMC.
