Each individual observation has a hexagonal footprint spanning 3 in diameter. Their placement on the sky is illustrated in Fig. A.1.

An observation with a 4 × 4 jiggle pattern on itself yields a spatially Nyquist sampled map, whereas a single “stare” observation probes positions spaced by roughly two full beam widths.
