Ratio of outer and inner maser radii for the sources in the sample as a function of X-ray (deabsorbed) luminosity in the 210 keV band. The trend N(r) ~ r-1 (blue dashed line) seems to be ruled out, while N(r) ~ r-2 and N(r) ~ r-3 (red and green dashed lines, respectively) are preferred. We note that the ratios expected for different clouds distributions depend on the critical maser densities assumed, being the expected ratio for a particular q, Rout/Rin = 10log (ρin/ρout) / 3q.
