Precession rates for bodies at different distances from the star for a disk-density profile index p = 1. For a giant planet, the precession rate becomes positive even if its modulus is still similar to that of less massive bodies. The modified formula 20 of Ward (1981) that accounts for the presence of a gap in the disk is needed to derive a more accurate analytical prediction.
