850 μm continuum emission of the L1688 region mapped by the Submillimeter Common-User Bolometer Array (SCUBA; Di Francesco et al. 2008), the beam size is 229. Contour levels go from 0.2 Jy beam-1 in steps of 0.2 Jy beam-1 (3σ). The dense cores studied here are indicated with blue filled squares and young stellar objects with open circles. The (0,0) offsets correspond to the J2000 equatorial position α = 16h00m00s, δ = −24°00′00′′.
