Table 4

Mass transfer and mass loss through stellar wind rates for our selected stars.

Star Used mass transfer stellar wind
value (10-6M yr-1) (10-6M yr-1)

A36 emp 48 ± 19 56 ± 19
model 50 ± 21 -58 ± 19
MT059 emp -10.5 ± 4
model -8.0 ± 3
MT696 emp -41 ± 160
model -50 ± 254
MT720 emp 104 ± 30 -10.7 ± 4.2
model -149 ± 45
Schulte 3 emp -13.9 ± 10.2
model 0.001 ± 8.8
Schulte 5 emp 3.0 ± 0.2 -15.6 ± 0.7
model 3.4 ± 0.2 −17.4 ± 0.8

Notes. No mass loss through stellar wind is given for the negative value as this would indicate a positive mass loss from the primary. The errors are calculated using the P, , M1, and M2 uncertainties. The errors for MT696 are large as a result of the similar companion masses. The two period change values (emp and model) for each star are given in Table 2. B17 is omitted from the table as there are no mass estimates.
