Gradients of the spectra (Fig. 8, region III) obtained with different temperature jumps at the mid chromosphere, i.e. with different values of ΔT as shown in Fig. 2b: 1600 K, 2600 K, 3600 K. The chromospheric cavity size a + b increases with a = b.
