The z ~ 3 composite LBG spectrum of Shapley et al. (2003) moved to redshifts z = 2.2,3.0,4.0, and 5.0 considering the variation of the intergalactic opacity with redshift (blue lines). For clarity, the spectra are shifted vertically and plotted only up to 1460 Å (restframe). The ALHAMBRA optical filter transmission curves are overplotted as shaded grey areas, and the dashed red line corresponds to the synthetic F814W filter. The first filter redwards of the Ly-α line in each redshift is marked in darker grey. (A colour version of this figure is available in the online edition.)
