Solution at t = 10 for a shock hitting a front-facing step. The fluid has adiabatic index Γ = 1.4, velocity v = 0.8 and is travelling at Mach 3. The scheme used was GFORCE1 with the van Leer slope-limiter, and with CFL 0.95. We plot 30 contours of the log of the density.
