Notes. The stellar mass density log (ρM) is derived from the best fit of the GSMF, neglecting the Eddington bias, and integrating it from M = 108 M⊙ to M = 1013 M⊙. A Salpeter IMF is assumed. The SMD ρM is in units of M⊙ Mpc-3. The minimum and maximum SMDs indicate the 1σ range (i.e. the 68% confidence interval).
