From top to bottom: the restored images, the model images, and the residual images. There is no error image, as its calculation would require a highly resolved image of the true brightness distribution of Cygnus A to compare with the recovered image. The colour scales of the images are different in each row, as indicated by the colour bar on the right. The CS reconstruction presents a higher angular resolution and a lower residual level (see text) than that obtained with the two other methods.
