The geometrical effect that for photons leaving a grating at larger angles the backside of the neighbouring grating may block part of the X-rays (shadow effect). This depends on spacecraft pointing and energy of the photons.

⁽²⁾

The geometrical effect that for off-axis angles, the mirror shells may partially block each other. Blocking is different for different parts of the mirror, which means there will be some energy dependence, since reflection efficiency differs depending on photon energy and reflection angle.
