Spectrum of the central high density gas region (Eye of the Medusa) containing the AGN and the shell. A Gaussian fit shows that the spectrum is well reproduced by two velocity components (magenta and blue). The velocity resolution is ~15 km s-1. A closer view at the spectra at different positions in the central region shows that the gas represented by the velocity component centered at 2450 km s-1 (magenta) is only present close to the nucleus of NGC 4194.
