Error bars for the estimated magnesium escape rate and electron density at 3 R_p, in the C-scenario. The exobase is fixed at R_exo=2R_p with a planetary wind velocity v_{pl − wind} = 10 km s^-1. A diamond indicates the constrained best fit to the observations with Ṁ_Mg⁰=6.3×10⁷ g s^-1 (χ² = 807.4 for 1069 degrees of freedom), while a star shows the global best fit with Ṁ_Mg⁰ = 2.9 × 10⁷ g s^-1 (χ² = 802.4 for 1067 degrees of freedom), in both cases obtained with n_e(3R_p) = 6.4 × 10¹⁰cm^-3.
