Estimated CME and type II burst heights for the 24 September 2001 event (Event No. 1). The Wind WAVES radio dynamic spectrum is plotted in the frequency range 20–13825 kHz. The spectrum is measured by two instruments, RAD1 and RAD2, and the change in instrument sensitivity is visible near 1000 kHz. The LASCO C3 difference image shows the CME at 12:18 UT, at height 25.4 R⊙, at central position angle of 141° (counterclockwise from the top). This was a full halo CME. Estimated first SEP injection time was at 10:31 ± 8 UT.
