Each color represents the trend with stellar mass for a fixed redshift bin: 0.177 < z < 0.242 (blue), 0.242 < z < 0.306 (green), 0.306 < z < 0.371 (purple), and 0.371 < z < 0.436 (red). The total stellar mass increases along each track, starting from the top. In the left panel, the SDSS galaxies from Vitale et al. (2012) are plotted in gray. The right panel offers a closer view of the zCOSMOS galaxies.
