Schematic graph of the angular momentum radial profile of the material inside the accretion torus. At the inner edge (Rin = 4.5GM / c2) of the matter configuration the angular momentum is equal to the Keplerian value, l = lK(Rin). The relativistic Keplerian angular momentum distribution first decreases with the radius, passes through a minimum, and then grows ∝ R1 / 2 asymptotically at large radii. The constant value, l = const., corresponds to the marginally stable configuration, which has been often discussed in the context of geometrically thick discs. The radially growing profile (q > 0) improves the stability of the accretion flow.
