The dotted lines with an arrow are the directions of the radio emissions. They are emitted radially, from the Alfvén wings. The angle α that is made between the radial direction and the plane defining the position of the Alfvén wings determines the angle of view, i.e. the star’s equatorial plane. If the observer’s angle of view relative to the star’s equatorial plane is also α, he can see the radiation emitted from the Alfvén wings. This angle is not time invariant, it depends on the position of the planet on its orbit.
