Mean radial velocity of the gas for the viscous (dashed) and the MHD (continuous line) prescriptions. We have taken Σ,T ∝ R-0.75, and α(R,0) ∝ Ra (with the local value of ⟨ α ⟩ P being 10-2), with three values of the exponent a used in the plots. The viscous prescription entails a parabolic flow profile (the so-called meridional circulation) while the MHD prescription entails an inverted Gaussian profile (until the corona, here at | z |  > zmax = 3.0 H). Here, for a =  −1, the vertically integrated flow is outward in both prescriptions.
