Colour profiles of NGC 3585 (top) and NGC 5812 (bottom). Note the trend to redder colours at small radii in both galaxies. The inner region of NGC 3585 is dominated by discy structure (see Fig. 1) which has a slightly redder colour than the mean. The very inner region of NGC 5812 contains a slightly off-centre, almost spherical, redder region. Note that in both cases the colour of the reddest, inner-most regions is  ≲ 0.1 mag redder than the mean colour of the galaxy.
