The giant H ii region N 11, with Spitzer/MIPS 24 μm shown in red, Spitzer/IRAC 8.0 μm in green, and H i column density (from Kim et al. 2003) in blue. The Spitzer/MIPS 24 μm emission is dominated by very small grains that are stochastically heated and by big, warm, dust grains in thermal equilibrium with the interstellar radiation field. Spitzer/IRAC 8.0 μm emission is dominated by PAHs. The polygon shows the Herschel/PACS spectroscopic observations of N 11B presented in this paper.
