Contribution of Na2 to the low-resolution experimental absorption coefficient k of Na based on the data in Fig. 7. A small constant scattered light correction was applied, and a Gaussian model was fitted to both bands and then subtracted from the observed spectrum to yield an estimate of the atomic spectrum alone. The absorption coefficient shown is normalized to the total absorption in the atomic line, based on matching the far wing in Fig. 10.
