The measurements by Abdo et al. (2009b) of the local effective emissivity ℰeff of the ISM per hydrogen atom (black data points) are compared to various predictions for which the Huang et al. (2007) cross sections have been used. A selection of different parameterizations for the CR proton and helium fluxes at the Earth is featured. The curves diverge from each other above 10 GeV and the spread among them reaches a factor of 2 at 1 TeV.
