The particle column density as a function of time after self-gravity is turned on after t = 35.0Torb in the high-resolution simulation (run H with 5123 grid cells and 64 × 106 particles). Two clumps condense out within each other’s Hill spheres and quickly merge. At the end of the simulation bound clumps have masses between 0.5 and 7.5 MCeres.
