Spectra of BD+17 3248 and HD 2796, showing the line at 869.46 nm in Mult. 6 of S I. We detect the line in BD+17 3248 ([Fe/H] = –2.1), but not in HD 2796 ([Fe/H] = –2.5). A synthetic spectrum (full line) corresponding to the equivalent width of 0.26 pm found by Israelian and Rebolo for this line has been superimposed on our spectrum of HD 2796.
