The black line is the fit to the data, while the dashed [red] line shows the linear dependence upon M/R expected from the gravitational redshift formula. This dependence is not seen, at least when all the stars are considered. Limiting the analysis to the “main sequence” objects (M/R > 0.5), a trend (though not statistically significant) might be present.
